MEET LAYNE

Real-life dog trainer. Labrador sidekick. Calm home advocate.

Hey, I'm Layne - dog trainer, chaos-tamer, and the heart behind Train With Layne.

I work with familes near Brighton, M,I who are tired of feeling like they're surviving their dog instead of enjoying life with them.  And I get it, my own dog Moose (a red lab with a flair for drama) is the reason I started this business in the first place.  He sent me on a mission to figure out how to raise a dog I could actually live with.

Over the years, I have trained with some of the most respected names in the industry, like the Monks of New Skete, Kane9 Dog Training, and Walking Dog Training.  I took bits of brilliance from each to shape my own calm, clear, real-world approach. I have trained hundreds of dogs.

But here's the part that makes my programs different:

I don't run your dog through a boot camp in a warehouse.  I train them right here, in my family home.

That means your dog learns how to live in a house just like yours.  Around real-life distractions.  Amazon deliveries, kids yelling, chickens pecking around - you know, real life.

Because let's be real: your dog isn't just going to sit and stay in a training bubble.  You need them to chill in the kitchen.  Walk past the neighbor's dog without losing it.  Come when called in the yard.  Be a dog you can actually live with.

So whether your dog is anxious, wild, reactive, or just lacking manners, my goal is to help you feel like you've got your life back and your dogs got a future that works in your world.

A few fun facts about me:

I live in Brighton, MI with my husband Gene, our son Alex, and our red labrador Moose

I train dogs in my actual home, not a warehouse.  It is lived-in, a little chaotic, and perfect for teaching real-life manners

I have backyard chickens that are braver than a lot of these dogs

I am a terrible gardener.  I do read crime novels on the porch while pretending I might someday garden.

When I am not training, you'll find me out hiking with Gene, sipping on another coffee, or singing "Hop Little Bunnies" to Alex for the umpteenth time.
